How to Avoid Constipation:

To understand constipation, it helps to know how the colon, or large intestine, works.

As food moves through the colon, the colon absorbs water from the food while it forms waste products, or stool.

Muscle contractions in the colon then push the stool toward the rectum.

By the time stool reaches the rectum it is solid, because most of the water has been absorbed.

Constipation occurs when the colon absorbs too much water or if the colon’s muscle contractions are slow or sluggish, causing the stool to move through the colon too slowly.

As a result, stools can become hard and dry.

Common causes of constipation are:

• Not enough fiber in diet 
• Lack of physical activity 
• Medications 
• Milk 
• Irritable bowel syndrome

Miralax Directions:

Do not take more than directed unless advised by your doctor.

The bottle top is a measuring cap marked to contain 17 grams of powder when filled to the indicated line (white section in cap)

Adults and Children 17 years of age and older:

fill to top of white section in cap which is marked to indicate the correct dose (17g)

Stir and dissolve in any 4 to 8 ounces of beverage (cold, hot or room temperature) then drink.

Use once a day,

use no more than 7 days.

Children 16 years or under:

ask a doctor

Do not use if foil seal under cap is missing, open or broken.
