What is glucosamine?

Yes, the same benefit will result if you take the daily dosage together or spread them throughout the day.

Are there any side effects to this product?  

There are no major side effects based on the studies done on both glucosamine and chondroitin. I take a prescription drug. Can I take Osteo Bi-Flex with my prescription?

Will this product have an effect on my blood sugar levels?

No, Osteo Bi-Flex should not affect blood sugar levels. Glucosamine is a natural amino sugar. These amino sugars have a different structure and function than blood sugar (glucose). Amino sugars do not affect blood glucose levels. It is always best to check with your physician before adding anything new to your diet or if you have any specific health conditions.

Does taking Osteo Bi-Flex cause water retention?

While Osteo Bi-Flex helps lubricate joints, it will not cause systemic bodily water retention. Healthy joints hold a large quantity of water, which gives the joint a rubbery, gel-like consistency. Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are building blocks of a protein-sugar complex found in the joints. These complexes attract and hold water, which is important for lubrication and carrying nutrients to the joints. These protein-sugar complexes are not distributed systematically throughout all tissues in the body and, therefore, do not cause systemic water retention. However, their function in attracting and holding water is essential for maintaining healthy, mobile joint function.

I am allergic to shellfish. Should I take this product?

I am allergic to sulfate. Can I take this product if it has chondroitin sulfate in it?
